During a campaign rally on the eve of the snap elections on Sunday, Joana Mortágua addressed a gathering at the Jardim da Avenida Luísa Todi in Setúbal with a message aimed at left-wing voters.
“The Socialist Party (PS) does not deserve the left-wing votes they are seeking. They aren’t trying to win these votes through genuine emotional or rational appeal. They conducted a centrist campaign and are now appealing to the left, resorting to blackmail and fear,” claimed the deputy, who is the leading candidate in the Setúbal district.
Following several appeals from the PS Secretary-General, Pedro Nuno Santos, urging against the dispersion of left-wing votes, the Bloc leader dismissed the Socialist “blackmail,” contending that “fear stupefies.”
“The strategic vote is a trap that undermines the left. Therefore, I urge all left-wing people: the campaign ends today, but our phone calls, our contacts, what we can do until Sunday is significant,” she appealed.
