The Vilarinha Theater will be rehabilitated and managed by conductor Eliseu Silva.

The contract made available on the public procurement portal Base, reviewed today, indicates that the award decision was approved on September 4, with the contract execution period set for 25 years, extendable by an additional five years.

The successful bidder is required to carry out rehabilitation work and perform all necessary maintenance, repair, and management tasks related to the Teatro da Vilarinha. This includes a commitment to offer an eclectic and comprehensive cultural program that appeals to various audiences. The maximum period for the rehabilitation phase is set at 18 months.

The bid from Arabesco Melódico was the only entry in this public tender.

According to the proposal submitted by Eliseu Silva, the cultural programming of the venue is scheduled to start in September 2027.

“The programming will be developed in partnership with the AMASING Association, under the artistic direction of Eliseu Silva, featuring a specialized team in music, theater, dance, cinema, literature, sound, image, production, and cultural mediation,” the document states.

The public tender specified that the successful bidder is required to pay an annual financial consideration of no less than 600 euros to the local union of parishes. This amount will be 840.04 euros.

Eliseu Silva, originally from Porto, is an internationally acclaimed conductor and violinist.

In October 2018, the local union of parishes took over the management of the Teatro da Vilarinha, which closed for renovations in January of the following year. These renovations never took place after the departure of Pé de Vento as the resident company.

The Pé de Vento Theater Company ceased being the resident company at the Teatro da Vilarinha in November 2018, ending a partnership that lasted more than two decades.

As the resident theater company at Vilarinha, Pé de Vento produced 78 performances, including 40 world premieres and 22 repertoire shows with 2,300 performances and hosted 89 groups, resulting in a total of 265 performances.

In June 2023, Tiago Mayan, the president of the Union of Parishes at the time, stated plans to reopen the venue during 2024.
