The weekend is almost here and it’s not coming alone: It brings (a lot of) heat.

The weekend is approaching, offering some extra time to engage in activities that the busier weekdays may not allow.

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts that on Saturday, most of mainland Portugal will experience “mostly clear or sunny skies,” with “occasionally strong winds on the western coastal strip south of Cabo Carvoeiro and in higher regions.”

Experts note that there will be “mostly clear or sunny skies, with periods of increased cloudiness until mid-morning along the northern and central coast.”

In an analysis shared on social media, the IPMA further indicates a “possibility of morning mist or fog forming in the northern and central regions,” along with a “slight increase in maximum temperatures in the Algarve,” where high temperatures will put the region on yellow alert, with highs expected to reach 34ºC.

Évora, Portalegre, and Castelo Branco will see temperatures exceed 30ºC.

And on Sunday?

On Sunday, temperatures are set to rise, as are the alerts extending to the districts of Évora, Portalegre, and Castelo Branco. On this day, only five districts will have maximum temperatures below 30ºC: Guarda, Leiria, Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, and Viana do Castelo.

The Alentejo region will see the highest temperatures, with Beja expected to be the hottest district, possibly reaching 39ºC.
