The IPMA has placed around 50 municipalities in the northern and central interior, Alentejo, and Algarve on a very high fire risk alert.
The fire risk determined by the IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. The maximum level is issued when meteorological conditions, such as extreme heat and low humidity, significantly increase the danger of fire ignition and spread.
IPMA’s forecast for today indicates slightly cloudy skies in the south and temporarily more cloudiness in the north and center with a slight drop in temperature.
The wind will blow weak to moderate, sometimes strong in highlands.
Maximum temperatures will range between 20 degrees Celsius in Viana do Castelo and 33º in Faro.
