The municipalities of Vimioso, Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro (Bragança), Tomar (Santarém), Portalegre, Castelo de Vide, Marvão (Portalegre), and Tavira (Faro) are today at maximum risk of rural fires.
Several municipalities in the northern and central interior and Algarve are also at very high risk of rural fires, according to the IPMA.
The Institute indicates that the risk of rural fires will increase from Wednesday due to the forecast of hot weather.
This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels ranging from reduced to maximum. These calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation in the last 24 hours.
The IPMA forecasts for today on the mainland include slightly cloudy or clear skies, morning cloudiness on the northern and central coast, occasionally strong winds on the western coastal strip in the afternoon, and a slight drop in maximum temperature in the north and Algarve.
Minimum temperatures will range between 12 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 20 (in Faro) and maximums between 22 (in Viana do Castelo) and 35 (in Castelo Branco).
