E-Redes states that “during these interventions, maneuvers, connections, repairs, or infrastructure maintenance works are carried out in a planned and controlled manner.”
“Temporary and short-term interruptions occur when all available supply alternatives are exhausted to ensure that the impact on customers is minimized,” according to the company’s website.
For safety reasons, they recommend that “all installations are considered permanently on, in case of early restoration of electrical supply or the need for technical testing.”
“Scheduled maintenance works in the distribution network are carried out under articles 72 and 75 of the Electricity and Gas Commercial Relations Regulation,” as stated on E-Redes’ website.
The company highlights that “as a result of this commitment, and as reported by CEER (Council of European Energy Regulators), E-REDES is considered a European reference regarding the execution of scheduled interventions with minimal supply impact.”
Electricity “cuts” on Sunday in seven municipalities are “regular” situations
E-Redes clarified that the scheduled electricity cuts due to network maintenance are regular maintenance situations.
“It is nothing out of the ordinary,” a source from E-Redes told Lusa, adding that “these kinds of works happen every Sunday.”
According to the same source, the locations where “scheduled cuts” occur due to “maintenance works” are always previously communicated on the company’s website.
Additionally, the operator stated that “these interruptions also serve to correct situations that may cause network instability and/or fault prevention.”

E-Redes has scheduled maintenance work on the distribution network for Sunday, November 23, which means several locations will be without electricity. Check the list.
