There is a €750 check for taking a course in the digital area: Who is entitled?

Workers may receive up to 750 euros per year for completing a digital skills course, with payment made upon completion of the professional training. This is part of the “Cheque-Formação + Digital” initiative.

The initiative aims to support and encourage the development of digital skills and qualifications among workers, as stated on the website of the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP).

“Through this enhancement of digital skills and qualifications, the measure seeks to promote employment retention, career progression, increased qualifications and employability, preparing workers for the changes brought by the digital transition across all sectors,” the IEFP website states.

Who is this initiative for?

  • Employees;
  • Independent workers with business or professional income;
  • Self-employed entrepreneurs;
  • Partners of Sole Proprietorship Companies;
  • Public Function Workers.

“Any worker, regardless of their employment status in the labor market, can utilize this measure to equip themselves with new tools and skills, addressing potential job loss due to skill obsolescence or preparing for new employment demands in a rapidly evolving, global, and competitive environment,” according to the IEFP.

What support is available?

The “maximum support available per recipient/applicant per year (a 12-month period from the date of submission of the first approved application in that period) is 750 euros.”

Applications must be submitted via the IEFP portal, through this link.

“Each application can only cover one professional training action, although it may include several training units or modules, according to the principles established in the Specific Regulation regarding the digital domain,” it is explained.

Furthermore, “the training can be conducted in-person, in a hybrid format, or completely online.”

“The professional training must be provided by a training entity certified by the Direção-Geral do Emprego e das Relações de Trabalho (DGERT) or entities that, by their legal nature and scope of operation, do not require certification as a training entity if they include in their creation or operation mandate the development of training activities. The identified training entity in the application must register the professional training action on the SIGO platform,” the IEFP further explains.

Applications until the end of the year

Information available on the IEFP website indicates that “applications can be submitted for digital domain professional training actions starting from 28-09-2022, with the maximum conclusion date being 31-12-2025.”

“Considering the maximum support available per candidate/year, the submission of a new application is dependent on the completion/closure of the previous application,” it is also noted.
