Thermometers ‘close’ the week with two districts reaching 36ºC

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has released its weather forecast for the upcoming days. On Friday, the forecast predicts largely clear skies, though some cloudiness is expected in the central coast areas and the Costa Vicentina during the early morning.

Experts anticipate a “slight increase in temperature, especially in the North and Center.”

The IPMA also warns of the potential for morning mist or fog in some central coastal locations.

The wind is expected to be “light to moderate (up to 30 km/h) from the north, temporarily shifting to southwest on the Algarve’s southern coast during the afternoon, occasionally strong (up to 40 km/h) in the northern and central highlands until mid-morning and again from mid-afternoon.”

How high will the temperatures rise?

In addition to the wind, the potential for mist, and a slight temperature rise in certain areas, it is crucial to know the temperatures expected by the end of the week.

Based on IPMA’s analysis, published on its website, the highest temperatures are expected in Évora and Santarém, with maximums projected to reach 36°C.

Following closely is Braga, with anticipated highs of 35°C. Beja, Portalegre, and Castelo Branco are expected to reach 34°C.

The coldest region is predicted to be Leiria, where temperatures are expected to drop to 13°C.

Rain or showers are more likely in the Azores, where temperatures will range from 21°C to 28°C across islands, despite some rainfall expected.
