
The majority of Portuguese citizens (38%) plan to spend between €500 and €1,000 on their summer holidays, according to data from Escolha do Consumidor released on Monday.
“Regarding the budget allocated for summer holidays, 38% spend between €500 and €1,000 on travel. About 26% plan to allocate a budget between €1,000 and €2,000, and 16% intend to spend less than €500. Meanwhile, 15% admit that expenses exceed €2,000,” states a report accessed by Notícias ao Minuto.
Additionally, there is “a small percentage of respondents who prefer not to disclose the amount they typically invest in travel (5%).”
“Compared to last year, 49% plan to spend the same amount. On the other hand, 24% of respondents expect to spend less, and 17% believe they will spend more,” it further notes.
Where are they going?
The majority of respondents prefer to travel to beaches and coastal destinations for holidays (28%), followed by those interested in cultural tourism, including visits to historical cities and museums (17%).
“Nature and adventure experiences, from trails to mountains and natural parks, rank third among the types of trips consumers value most (15%). Rural tourism is mentioned by 10% of participants, while another 10% opt for resorts or all-inclusive packages. Finally, large international cities are the favorite destination for 11%, and 8% prefer exotic or tropical locations,” the same report notes.
