Grupo Nabeiro (Delta Cafés), Sonae, and IKEA top the list of companies with the best reputation in Portugal, according to the Merco ranking released this Thursday.
In the Merco Companies Portugal 2025 ranking, Grupo Nabeiro (Delta Cafés) leads, followed by Sonae, IKEA, Jerónimo Martins, and EDP. This ranking was derived from a sample of 2,627 surveys, six evaluations, and 16 sources of information, as noted in a statement accessed by Notícias ao Minuto.
Additionally, in the Leaders ranking, Rui Miguel Nabeiro (Delta Cafés) maintains the first position, followed by Cláudia Azevedo (Sonae), Paulo Macedo (Caixa Geral de Depósitos), Rita Nabeiro (Grupo Nabeiro), and Pedro Soares dos Santos (Jerónimo Martins).
The 2025 edition features three women in the top 10 business leaders: Cláudia Azevedo (2nd place), Rita Nabeiro (4th position), and Paula Amorim (6th), with 25 women listed in the top 100 global leaders.
Vodafone, NOS, Super Bock Group, Sonae, and Continente Hipermercados are recognized as companies with the best communication teams, according to journalists.
Merco outlines that the study is independently verified by KPMG, according to the ISAE 3000 standard, ensuring the accuracy and transparency of the entire process.
The sixth edition involved 288 directors of large companies, 45 financial analysts, 31 economic journalists, 41 university business professors, 40 NGO leaders, 40 union leaders, 40 consumer association heads, 31 government officials, 41 social media managers, and 2,000 citizens (Merco Society), according to the released note.
This year also saw the presentation of results for companies with the best communication teams, as voted by journalists. Vodafone (1st), NOS (2nd), Super Bock Group (3rd), Sonae (4th), and Continente Hipermercados (5th) shine in this domain.
Concurrently, a digital analysis (Merco Digital) examined 231,656 mentions in collaboration with Nethodology, alongside a benchmarking of 30 objective company indicators, as further detailed in the note.
The Merco Companies and Leaders Portugal 2025 includes several monitors:
- Ranking of the top 100 companies with the best reputation in Portugal.
- Sectoral ranking of companies with the best reputation in Portugal.
- Ranking of the top 100 leaders with the best reputation in Portugal.
The Merco (Monitor Empresarial de Reputação Corporativa) is a reputational assessment tool launched in 1999, employing a multistakeholder methodology, becoming a globally recognized benchmark. The Merco was developed by Análisis e Investigación, Spain’s leading market research institute. The Merco ranking methodology was independently reviewed by KPMG. Therefore, KPMG does not publicly disclose its ranking position, as stated in the released note.
