Beja, Lisbon, and Faro are the districts with the highest average fuel prices in mainland Portugal, while Braga, Aveiro, and Viana do Castelo boast the lowest. This was revealed by the Kombustíveis platform, which analyzed data between May 26 and June 2.
“The difference between refueling at the cheapest and the most expensive station in the country can exceed 30 cents per liter – equating to more than 15 euros difference for a 50-liter tank,” the platform stated in a press release sent to newsrooms this Thursday.
In the districts of Aveiro and Braga, the lowest average prices for 95-octane gasoline are available: 1.712 €/l.
Meanwhile, Viseu offers the lowest average price for 98-octane gasoline at 1.940 €/l.
“For simple diesel, Braga leads in savings, with an average price of 1.562 €/l, followed by Aveiro and Viana do Castelo, both at 1.567 €/l. For those using special diesel, Coimbra and Viana do Castelo are the most affordable districts (1.624 €/l),” the notice indicates.
On the opposite end, Beja is the most expensive place to refuel with 95-octane gasoline (1.741 €/l), and Lisbon for 98-octane gasoline (1.979 €/l).
“The district of Faro is where simple diesel is most expensive, at 1.591 €/liter, and Beja is also where it costs the most to fill up with special diesel, at 1.659 €/l,” concluded Kombustíveis.
