This public authority launched a tender to build houses with controlled costs.

The municipality announced in a press release that the initiative is the “largest planned project” in its Local Housing Strategy, incorporating a pilot project of collaborative housing (Cohousing).

The housing units will be built on land acquired by the municipality in the Chesgal area, with the urbanization and construction operation expected to take approximately three years (1,095 days).

The project includes three residential blocks with five floors each, featuring apartments ranging from T1 to T4.

The collaborative housing component includes seven rooms, five of which have kitchens and communal areas such as dining rooms, living rooms, study and support rooms, laundry, and a medical office.

According to the municipality, this is the eighth controlled-cost housing project promoted under its Local Housing Strategy.

So far, eight homes have been completed and allocated in the Bensafrim area, nine in Sargaçal and Chesgal, and 12 in the city of Lagos, the statement notes.

Currently under construction are 12 housing units in Cerca do Cemitério, six in Barão de São João, and tenders have already been awarded for the construction of 24 units in Chinicato and 14 in Bensafrim.

In addition to the recently initiated construction of 104 units in Chesgal, tenders are underway for projects in Santo Amaro (51 units), Bensafrim (20 units), and the Caliças subdivision, the latter intended for sale at controlled costs, the Lagos City Council concludes.
