The column of demonstrators was nearing the end of Prata Street, while not everyone who joined the initiative of the Unitary Platform of Solidarity with Palestine (PUSP) had yet left Rossio. This initiative includes several non-governmental organizations (NGOs), such as Amnesty International Portugal, Greenpeace Portugal, Médecins Sans Frontières, and the José Saramago Foundation, among others.
“In every city, on every corner, we are all Palestine”, “Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people; Israel is a murderous state” and “down with Zionism, which will fall,” were the slogans shouted by noisy groups seeking to draw attention to the occupation.
Watching the demonstration, American Jew Miriam applauded enthusiastically.
“I am Jewish and American, and today I am ashamed of that,” she told Lusa, the tourist who has been residing in Spain for two years.
