The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) has arrested a woman suspected of robbery and kidnapping in the municipality of Mealhada, Aveiro, on the night of September 9.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the PJ stated that “the incidents occurred in a public area, where the victim was forced into a vehicle and, under the threat of a firearm, coerced into allowing access to their bank account.” During this time, the detainee (along with unidentified accomplices) also stole a “high-end mobile phone” from the victim.
The crimes are believed to have been committed following disagreements between the victim and the aggressors, fueled by “transactions related to narcotic products.”
The authority further reports that, “during the operation,” another suspect was arrested for “drug trafficking.” The PJ seized “cocaine, amphetamines, a scale and packaging tools, various firearm replicas, a significant amount of jewelry, and more than 10,000 euros in cash.”
Both detainees, a man and a woman, have “extensive criminal records” for similar nature crimes and will be brought before the judicial authorities for an initial judicial interrogation, where the necessary coercive measures will be applied by the district of Aveiro.
