Threatens teenage son with a firearm in front of wife and younger children

A 44-year-old man was arrested on November 6 for threatening his 18-year-old son with a firearm, which he used to fire shots in public in the municipality of Coimbra.

Following a report of gunfire in public, officers from the National Republican Guard (GNR) arrived at the scene. Their investigation revealed that the suspect had threatened his son using a firearm and fired shots publicly, detailed the GNR in a statement sent to newsrooms this Monday.

Authorities also discovered that the aggressor’s partner, a 46-year-old woman, and his two minor children witnessed the incidents.

In addition to arresting the individual, the GNR seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

The man appeared before the Judicial Court of Coimbra and was remanded in custody.

This operation was carried out by the Territorial Command of Coimbra, through the Souselas Territorial Post, with support from the Nucleus of Investigation and Support for Specific Victims (NIAVE) and the Intervention Detachment (DI) of the Territorial Command of Coimbra.
