Threatens to throw a Molotov cocktail at a colleague’s house over alleged betrayal

A 56-year-old man was arrested on the morning of November 8 after threatening to throw a Molotov cocktail at a colleague’s house in Vila Nova de Gaia, suspecting the individual of involvement with his wife.

The arrest occurred at 7:45 a.m. that day in a “context of disagreements between the [suspect] and a male work colleague, over suspicions of the latter’s involvement with the detainee’s wife,” detailed the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement sent to newsrooms on Monday.

The authorities noted that the man “went to the colleague’s residence and threw stones at the house, threatening him both physically and against his property, using the Molotov cocktail for this purpose.”

The individual even ignited the improvised device, “consisting of a glass bottle with fuel and a cloth at the neck,” but did not throw it due to the intervention of security forces.

“After the arrest, it was found that the suspect was in possession of some seized white weapons, including a Karambit, a kitchen knife, a metal rod with an improvised handle, and a small sickle,” said the PSP.

The man was brought before judicial authorities and was placed under an Identity and Residence Term.
