A 61-year-old man was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) in Loures for domestic violence on Thursday in Odivelas. Intoxicated, the assailant threatened his partner and a police officer with a cleaver.
The incident was reported around 10:00 PM when officers, on patrol, heard the victim screaming for help. Simultaneously, they received a call reporting an ongoing domestic violence situation on the same street, involving a suspect armed with a cleaver.
Upon arrival, the police found the man to be “intoxicated and quite aggressive.” He had already assaulted the woman and attempted to do the same to one of the officers. However, according to a PSP statement, he was “promptly restrained and detained.”
Following the arrest, the PSP conducted a search of the house. In addition to the cleaver, they seized 33.48 individual doses of hashish, 18.60 individual doses of ecstasy, and 0.47 individual doses of marijuana.
The man was held in the cells of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (COMETLIS) of the PSP and was subjected to identity and residence term and prohibition from staying at the home.
