“The fire is burning with significant intensity and has three active fronts in an area of scrubland and pine forest,” said the Deputy Commander of the Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-regional Command to Lusa Agency around 2:30 PM.
João Cardoso stated that while there are no villages at risk, the localities of Aldeia Nova, Carrasqueira, and Outeiro de Cima, in the parish of Ferreira de Aves, Sátão municipality, Viseu district, are in the path of one of the fronts.
The alert for the fire was given at 1:03 AM today in Vila Boa, Ferreira de Aves, Sátão.
As of 2:30 PM, the fire was being fought by 229 operatives supported by 70 vehicles and five air assets, according to the official page of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
