Three men have been arrested in Oleiros, Sertã, for being illegally in the country.
The arrest followed an inspection operation targeting agricultural and forestry operations, conducted on September 16 by the National Republican Guard (GNR).
The detainees, aged between 26 and 40, were found to be unlawfully present in the country.
During the operation, initiated by the Territorial Command of Castelo Branco through the Sertã Territorial Detachment, it was determined that the individuals “did not possess valid identification documents, passports, or residence permits, a fact confirmed through available information systems with the support of the Border and Foreigners Coordination Unit (UCFE), which led to their immediate detention.”
The inspection action targeted two local economic operators, and the facts have been forwarded to the Judicial Court of Oleiros, as noted in a GNR statement sent to the press.
Inspection Operations Intensify
Authorities have increased inspections of workers possibly in illegal situations in the country.
Just last week, an operation in Odemira resulted in two arrests.

In this operation, “580 foreign citizens, aged between 17 and 64, were inspected.” Ultimately, two people, aged 26 and 27, were detained for the crime of illegal stay in national territory.
Alongside the two arrests, two reports for illegal stay in national territory were filed, as well as 101 infraction notices under the legal framework for the entry, stay, exit, and expulsion of foreign citizens from national territory.
Additionally, 41 infraction notices were issued under road legislation related to the transportation of agricultural workers.
