Three suspects, two men and a woman aged between 33 and 49, were caught in the act and have a “vast history” of police and criminal records, according to a statement from the Judiciary Police (PJ).
The PJ explained that the detainees approached and kidnapped the victim on Sunday evening, driving him through various streets of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, during which they demanded money for his release.
Subsequently, the suspects contacted the victim’s family and demanded a ransom, threatening harm to his physical integrity and life.
This operation yielded the suspects several hundred euros, noted the PJ.
“Following various investigative actions conducted by the PJ, it was possible to locate and arrest the suspects as well as rescue the victim, securing his release,” the statement concluded.
