Three children hospitalized after consuming “6 to 10” hash gummies

Three children were hospitalized after “accidentally consuming” gummies containing hashish during a family gathering in Paços de Ferreira, in the Porto district. The children include a nine-year-old boy and two ten-year-old girls, the latter being sisters.

The news was reported on Monday and confirmed by the Notícias ao Minuto through the Volunteer Firefighters of Freamunde, who were called to the scene.

The incident occurred on Sunday when, during the family gathering, the children asked if they could consume the gummies stored in the refrigerator that “closely resembled regular gummies.”

Unaware that it was an adulterated product, the grandmother allowed the nine and ten-year-olds to eat the gummies.

After consumption, and once two of the children were at their respective homes, symptoms began to manifest, leaving the children “drowsy.”

They reportedly “consumed” and “chewed” between “six to ten gummies,” as explained by the Volunteer Firefighters of Freamunde to Notícias ao Minuto. Upon recognizing the situation, the children were taken to the Centro Hospitalar do Tâmega e Sousa.
