The National Republican Guard (GNR) has announced the arrest of three individuals aged 30, 39, and 54 in two operations conducted by the Aljustrel Criminal Investigation Unit on October 2 and the recent Tuesday.
The first police action, part of a drug trafficking investigation, resulted in the arrest of the 39-year-old in Ferreira do Alentejo. The authorities conducted both a residential and vehicle search.
The detained individual appeared in the local judicial court and was released under the condition of thrice-weekly reporting to the local police and prohibitions against contacting other parties involved in the case.
Continuing the investigation, the GNR executed another arrest warrant last Tuesday in the village of Aljustrel, resulting in the arrest of the 54-year-old man.
“During the procedures, a 30-year-old man was also caught in the act,” added the security force in their statement.
Both individuals appeared before the Judicial Court of Aljustrel, which ordered their preventive detention, the most severe measure, and banned contact with others involved in the process.
In total, GNR seized over 1,500 doses of various drugs, specifically 1,126 of heroin, 122 of cocaine, 250 of crack, 17 of hashish, and 17 of cannabis, alongside a manufactured cannabis cigarette and a hallucinogenic mushroom.
The seizure also included four digital scales, €3,093.44 in cash, a safe, two televisions, a game console, various games, three laptops, 12 mobile phones, a camera, four gold rings, a pepper spray, two motorcycles, and an airsoft gun.
The operations were supported by the Intervention Unit, Beja Intervention Detachment, and the territorial posts of Ferreira do Alentejo, Aljustrel, and Ourique, all part of the GNR’s Territorial Command of Beja.
