
The captain of the Caminha Port, Fernando Vieira Pereira, reported that five people were aboard the vessel, two of whom were rescued and taken to the Hospital of Viana do Castelo.
The official stated the accident occurred in a rocky area near the island of Ínsua, Moledo, in the Caminha municipality, under circumstances still being investigated.
The National Maritime Authority announced that following an alert received at 12:20 p.m., search operations were promptly launched. Sea operations involved the rescue teams from Viana do Castelo Lifesaving Station and members of the Caminha Maritime Police Command, while air operations were conducted by aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force and another from Spain.
During the search operations, coordinated by the Caminha Port Captain and Maritime Police Local Commander, two victims were located: the vessel’s captain and an Indonesian fisherman. They were attended to and transported in a conscious state to a hospital by the Caminha Volunteer Firefighters.
Searches continue in the area for three Indonesian fishermen.
