Three individuals were injured on Sunday in a “firearm assault” in Alcobaça, as confirmed by the Civil Protection authorities.
One of the individuals sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Coimbra Hospital and University Centre. The other two, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to Leiria Hospital and Alcobaça Hospital.
The National Republican Guard (GNR) stated that the incident stemmed from a family dispute, during which one of the parties involved fired a weapon, injuring the others. It is known that two of the victims are the brother-in-law and nephew of the shooter.
The investigation is now under the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Police (PJ).
The alert was raised at 2:40 PM, prompting the dispatch of the Alcobaça Volunteer Firefighters, GNR, National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), and an INEM helicopter to the scene.
