Three men, aged between 34 and 46, were arrested by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on suspicion of involvement in the illicit trafficking of narcotics and drugs in Tavira, within the Faro district.
In a statement released on Thursday, the PJ disclosed that a “police operation” was conducted, in collaboration with Spain’s National Police Corps, which led to the suspects’ arrest in the act.
The men were found in possession of “narcotic substances (hashish), a shotgun, two 9mm pistols, 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 30 12-gauge cartridges.”
Furthermore, the PJ seized communication devices, money, and a vehicle that were used by the group in criminal activities.
The detainees, consisting of two foreign nationals and one Portuguese national, will appear in the Judiciary Court of Faro for coercive measure proceedings, under the investigation conducted by the Faro Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP).
The investigation continues under the jurisdiction of the Polícia Judiciária.
