Three minors missing in Germany found in Pombal. One detained.

The Republican National Guard (GNR) located three missing minors from Germany, aged between 13 and 17, in Pombal. This identification followed an operation targeting a vehicle with false license plates in the Portuguese municipality.

According to a statement received, the events transpired on the 3rd of the month when the Territorial Command of Leiria, through the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of Leiria and the Investigation and Support Center for Specific Victims (NIAVE) of Leiria, arrested an 18-year-old man for drug trafficking, driving without a legal license, and vehicle theft.

“During the inspection, it was discovered that, in addition to the 18-year-old driver, there were two minors in the vehicle, a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, residents of Germany and reported missing in the Schengen Information System,” the note elaborates.

The authorities explained that during police proceedings, a search was conducted on the vehicle and a security check on the driver and occupants, “leading to the discovery that the driver was in possession of 360 doses of amphetamines, had no legal driving license, and was suspected of other vehicle and cash register thefts in shops in the Leiria district, leading to his arrest.”

The GNR reports that, in addition to the seized vehicle, two car keys for vehicles stolen in the past week in the Leiria and Pombal areas were also seized.

Notably, during the course of these operations, three more individuals were located: a 39-year-old man in Castelo Branco, a 17-year-old boy, and another minor of the same age, the latter also reported missing in the Schengen Information System.

The detainee is scheduled to appear this Wednesday, November 5th, at the Judicial Court of Leiria.
