Throws a grenade at the boss and forces to call the Explosive Unit

The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a 22-year-old man on the night of July 16 in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, Lisbon, for possession of prohibited weapons, specifically military equipment.

In a statement issued to the press on Friday, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP disclosed that around 5:20 PM that day, they were called to an establishment where an “individual with a hand grenade” was present.

After speaking with the establishment’s owner, the PSP determined that she had been threatened by the suspect, who was her employee. The man allegedly “threw a grenade at her, having even removed the safety mechanism.”

“A security perimeter was immediately established, and the Special Police Unit – Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Underground Security Center was activated. After conducting the appropriate investigation, it was concluded that it was an instructional grenade,” the security force states in the same note.

At the time, the PSP confiscated four ammunition rounds from the employee. However, “due to strong suspicions that he had more prohibited items at his residence, and with his consent, a search of his room was conducted,” where an 80-centimeter blade saber sword and a mortar shell were found and confiscated.

The detainee was taken to PSP detention cells to later be presented in court.
