The countdown has begun for the time change as the transition to winter time approaches. Here’s what you need to know about when and how this change will occur.
As is customary, the time change will occur on the last Sunday of October, which falls on October 26 this year. During the early hours, the clocks will be set back by one hour.
Thus, when it is 2:00 AM, the time will revert to 1:00 AM in mainland Portugal and the Madeira Autonomous Region.
However, for those in the Azores Autonomous Region, the clocks will change at 1:00 AM, switching to midnight.
Legal time will change again on March 29, marking the return to summer time.
It should be noted that the current time change regime is regulated by a 2000 directive (community law), which stipulates that every year the clocks are set forward and back one hour on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October, marking the beginning and end of summer time.
