TikTok reacts after Ventura talks about “censorship”: There are “specific restrictions”

The leader of Chega, André Ventura, announced on Friday that his TikTok account might face a ban due to the content of certain videos shared on the platform.

“TikTok apparently wants to ban my account because of videos about Roma people and Charlie Kirk. This is pure censorship, an inadmissible political cancellation,” he wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where an image of his TikTok account is also displayed.

The screenshot shows André Ventura’s profile, with the phrase “Account ban warning” appearing below his username.

Notícias ao Minuto reached out to TikTok for confirmation regarding any actions against this specific account.

In a statement provided, a TikTok spokesperson stated, “All accounts are subject to our Community Guidelines, and content that violates these is addressed accordingly.”

“We acknowledge the important role that government, politician, and political party accounts play in civic processes and public life, and we apply a specific set of restrictions to these accounts in cases of multiple infractions, in line with our commitment to human rights and freedom of expression,” it read, without specifically mentioning André Ventura’s account.
