Time has changed! Parks and gardens with ‘new hours’ in Lisbon: Stay informed

With the recent change to standard time, the opening and closing hours of Lisbon’s parks and gardens have been adjusted, aiming to enhance the “well-being” of visitors.

On October 26, the Lisbon City Council announced via social media that “the opening and closing times of Lisbon’s parks and gardens will be adjusted to winter hours starting this Sunday, October 26, to align with the reduced hours of daylight.”

The council justified the change by saying, “This measure aims to ensure greater safety, comfort, and well-being for all visitors during the winter months.”

The municipality listed the parks with ‘new hours’ of operation and stated the times that visitors should note.

These are:

  • Estufa Fria – 09:00 to 17:00
  • Jardim da Cerca da Graça – 07:30 to 21:00
  • Jardim do Caracol da Penha – 07:00 to 21:00
  • Parque Infantil da Quinta de São António – 09:00 to 18:00
  • Parque Infantil do Parque Eduardo VII – 09:00 to 17:30
  • Quinta Conde d’Arcos – 06:15 to 20:00
  • Quinta da Paz – 06:15 to 21:00
  • Quinta das Carmelitas – 06:15 to 20:00
  • Quinta das Flores – 07:00 to 20:30
  • Tapada das Necessidades – 08:00 to 18:00 (South Gate) | 08:00 to 17:45 (North Gate).

At dawn on Sunday, October 26, clocks were set back by one hour. On mainland Portugal and in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, when it was 02:00, the clocks were turned back 60 minutes to 01:00.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the change occurred at 01:00 on Sunday, switching to 00:00.

Legal time will change again on March 29, 2026, marking the start of daylight saving time.

The current clock change system is regulated by a 2000 directive (a community law) that stipulates clocks are advanced and set back by one hour on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October each year, marking the start and end of daylight saving time.
