The president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Luís Montenegro, attended a rally this afternoon in Vila Nova de Gaia, participating in a march in Afurada.
“A leadership with vision, with proximity, a leadership that knows the history of this land but is always focused on building the future. Almost all the major facilities, the great transformations, the significant projects in Gaia owe themselves to those 16 years of Luís Filipe Menezes’ presidency,” said Montenegro. Menezes is a candidate for the municipality again in these elections.
He added: “It is very, very gratifying for me to be here today. To understand that he remains in shape and maintains a close relationship with the people of Gaia.”
It should be noted that Luís Filipe Menezes was elected president of the Gaia Municipal Council three times (2001, 2005, and 2009).
Finally, Luís Montenegro called for voting, saying: “It is necessary to vote on Sunday. There is no doubt that the people of Gaia prefer Luís Filipe Menezes. We feel it on the streets, we feel it in all 24 parishes of the Gaia municipality.”
“But the fact that people are by his side and want him to be the mayor can only become effective if they vote on Sunday. Because it is worthless to say that he must return, that he must win if there is no voting. We must vote; do not miss any opportunity to bring everyone to vote until the last moment so that we can achieve a great victory, a strong majority, and put Gaia back on the map of development, on the map of municipalities where it is worth staying, where it is worth living, where there are job opportunities,” he said.
Alongside the PSD leader was also the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, who is a native of Vila Nova de Gaia.
