TO THE MINUTE: Mutual accusations after pro-Palestine march mark 6th day

Hélder Sousa, the lead candidate for Livre for the Porto City Council, advocated for the establishment of a network of “citizen farms” across the city. He proposed creating rural hubs within parks and green spaces, connected by cycle paths and “green corridors”.

Hélder Sousa visited Parque do Covelo in the parish of Paranhos, next to Quinta do Covelo, a site that includes a playground, fitness machines, a café, public restrooms, and water fountains.

“Our city vision also incorporates these ancient rural spaces and green areas that still exist in Porto. (…) We intend to map these sites, such as Quinta da Prelada, Parque de Ramalde, Charca de Salgueiros, Covelo, and Parque da Pasteleira, part of Parque Oriental,” he explained.

The aim is to “create rural hubs connected to nature and open to the community,” featuring urban gardens, food and environmental education laboratories, and launching “nature trails and small climate refuges, open year-round”.
