
At the close of the session, Japan’s main index, the Nikkei, rose by 6.03%, reaching 33,012.58. The second benchmark, the Topix, ended with a gain of 6.26%, settling at 2,432.02 points.
The Nikkei index reflects the unweighted average of the 225 leading stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, while the Topix index includes the stocks of the 1,600 largest listed companies.
