Tomorrowland brings “a new style of festival” back to São Paulo.

As the second weekend of the legendary Tomorrowland festival unfolds in Boom, Belgium, attracting 400,000 attendees over six days, Tomorrowland’s spokesperson, Debby Wilmsen, has announced the festival’s upcoming edition in Brazil. Scheduled from August 10 to 12, it will take place at Maeda Park in Itu, approximately 100 kilometers from São Paulo.

“The main stage is already there and we can start building [the structure] after we finish here. Ticket sales are ongoing, but I believe one day is already sold out and the others are nearly sold out, so the festival is faring very well [in Brazil],” states Debby Wilmsen.

Tomorrowland Brasil officially launched in 2015 but encountered interruptions from 2017 to 2022 due to logistical challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival resumed in 2023, although that edition was marked by severe rainfall impacting local infrastructure, leading to a one-day suspension.

The 2024 edition in Brazil proceeded smoothly, and the organizers anticipate the same for this year’s event, themed “Vida,” a magical world of nature expecting 180,000 festival-goers over three days.

Wilmsen notes that electronic music remains niche in Brazil, despite its large following in Europe.

“Not all radio channels play electronic music, but there are significant artists in Brazil like Alok and Vintage Culture. It’s a new business and a new festival style,” she explains.

Moreover, “our camping park is very appealing to the Brazilian audience because attending a festival and camping there is a novel experience,” she adds.

Tomorrowland Brasil aims to bring “something unprecedented to São Paulo” in terms of both music and festival style, Wilmsen indicates.

The second weekend of Tomorrowland in Boom features Portuguese DJ Diego Miranda, following incidents, including a fire on the main stage two days before opening.

In an interview prior to his performance, the Portuguese DJ expressed his excitement about returning to a platform that provided “international visibility” and garners “increasing enthusiasm” from festival-goers, both Portuguese and Brazilian.

The festival is often dubbed the “Disneyland for adults.”
