
At around 12:50 p.m., the Alentejo Central Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that a collision occurred “near kilometer 475” of the road, close to the town of Mora, for those coming from Montargil, in the municipality of Ponte de Sor, Portalegre district.
The alert was issued to the authorities at 12:11 p.m., and about 10 minutes later “traffic was blocked in both directions” of the EN2 for rescue operations.
“The collision resulted in three victims, but they are still being assessed. One victim was trapped but has been freed,” the source explained.
A helicopter from the National Institute for Medical Emergency (INEM) stationed in Évora was mobilized to the scene but has since been deactivated, it was added.
The accident engaged a total of 27 operatives, supported by 12 vehicles, including firefighters, GNR, Mora Municipal Civil Protection Service, and INEM, with the presence of the emergency medical and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) from Évora and the immediate life support ambulance (SIV) from Ponte de Sor.
