
A man was killed on Friday following a collision that occurred at 21:26 between a motorcycle and a heavy vehicle at kilometer 89 in the north/south direction on the A1, in the Alcanena area of the Santarém district.
Three other individuals were also assisted as a result of the accident, according to a representative from the Médio Tejo Sub-regional Command of Civil Protection. No further details were provided.
The deceased was transported to the Forensic Medicine Center in Santarém.
A spokesperson from the GNR in Santarém stated that the victim was a man—the motorcyclist involved in the accident—though they could not immediately provide information on his age or the specifics surrounding the incident.
At the scene were members of the GNR, the Traffic Brigade, and the Road Accident Crime Investigation Unit (NICAV), along with the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from the Abrantes Hospital and a team of psychologists from INEM.
In total, 17 operatives were deployed, supported by seven vehicles, according to Civil Protection authorities.
