An earlier statement from the Algarve Sub-Regional Command indicated that the road was closed at approximately 5:30 a.m. due to a collision between two heavy goods vehicles, resulting in one minor injury.
“The two heavy goods vehicles collided, and one caught fire. There is one minor injury, who was transported to Faro Hospital,” the source reported.
The incident led to the closure of the A22, commonly known as Via do Infante, near the parish of Paderne at kilometer 56, heading in the Albufeira-Faro direction.
The scene involved 28 personnel, supported by 11 vehicles.
