At least four people sustained minor injuries and six received medical assistance after an Intercidades train collided with a truck on the Beira Baixa Line in Alpedrinha, Fundão municipality, as reported by emergency services.
The commander of the Fundão Volunteer Firefighters, José Sousa, mentioned that the four individuals with minor injuries were transported to Covilhã Hospital.
Six other individuals were assisted at the scene.
An official from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-regional Command stated that the accident caused a fire in the van and at least two sections of the train.

The accident, which was reported around 8:00 PM, occurred in Alpedrinha, Fundão municipality, in the Castelo Branco district and led to the closure of the Beira Baixa Line.
The alert was issued at 8:00 PM and by 9:30 PM, there were 167 operatives on site, supported by 57 vehicles, according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection’s website.
