An individual was apprehended by the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon of the Public Security Police (PSP) on October 12 at 15:55 in the Parque das Nações area. The suspect is accused of the crime of driving without a legal license while providing passenger transport services.
In a statement released to newsrooms on Tuesday, the 21st, the PSP noted that “this man’s arrest followed three previous ones in the last two weeks for the same offense, highlighting a concerning sentiment of impunity and disregard for the legal standards governing individual passenger transport services.”
The suspect informed the authorities that he “previously held a driving license in a foreign country,” yet he was “driving irregularly, without presenting any valid document that authorized him to drive.”
In the same communiqué, the PSP emphasized that it “regards unlicensed driving in passenger transport as a priority in its enforcement activities, acting firmly and continuously to combat this illegal and recurring practice, ensuring a safe, legal, and responsible service for all citizens.”
The detainee was notified to appear before the appropriate judicial authority for the application of possible coercive measures.
