Travel by plane at Easter The PSP recommendations you (really) need to read

If you are among the Portuguese planning to travel by plane this Easter, take note of the advice from the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP). Through social media, the authority emphasizes, among other recommendations, that you should “never” lose sight of your luggage and always have your documents “at hand and with copies.”

At the airport, regardless of your departure location, it is crucial to follow the rule of not carrying prohibited items: “Concealed knives (card sharp), sprays, sharp or flammable objects.”

The PSP also suggests in the same Facebook post to “consult the list of prohibited items on the airport or airline’s website in advance,” warning that “neglecting this precaution may delay your boarding and result in legal sanctions.”

Another alert from the security force urges not to leave suitcases or backpacks unattended, as “unattended luggage can trigger security alarms, lead to the evacuation of areas, and require the intervention of specialized teams.”

You should also always have your valid identification document at hand to avoid “delays in security checks and boarding,” avoiding leaving them “in the back pocket” or in “open bags.”

Driving to the airport?

If you’re driving your own car to the airport, remember to park “only in permitted areas.” The PSP stresses that “parking in prohibited areas can pose security risks” and obstruct emergency access routes, adding that your vehicle may also “be towed and subject to additional inspection.”
