‘Travel Without Rush’ campaign ends with 28 drivers arrested in Lisbon


Nearly 30 drivers were detained by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) as part of the ‘Travelling Without Rush’ road safety campaign, conducted from March 18 to 24.

In a communication to the press, the authority explained that the operation was organized by the PSP along with the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) and the National Republican Guard (GNR), with the aim of “alerting drivers to the risks of speeding.”

In the Lisbon area, the PSP detained 28 drivers: five for driving under the influence of alcohol, nine for lack of legal authorization, and 14 for other crimes.

In total, 1,462 vehicles were inspected, and 543 traffic violation notices were issued. Additionally, 22 vehicles were seized, and 794 drivers were subjected to breathalyzer tests.

During the same period, the PSP monitored 9,830 vehicles using radar.
