A 57-year-old woman traveling from Portugal to Brazil was apprehended on Monday at Fortaleza airport carrying unconventional luggage. Authorities discovered 57 injections of the drug Mounjaro concealed among clothing and religious images, as reported by the Federal Revenue Service.
Mounjaro is an injectable medication primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and has been similarly used for weight loss, like Ozempic.
Between April 19 and 21, more than 300 injections of Mounjaro were seized by the Federal Revenue Inspection at Fortaleza International Airport.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
