American rapper Travis Scott is the highlight of the first day of the Rolling Loud festival, which until Friday brings together more than 60 hip-hop artists at Praia da Rocha in Portimão.
Travis Scott’s concert in Portugal comes a week after learning that he will not face criminal charges for the crushing deaths of 10 people at his Astroworld festival concert in 2021, following a decision by a Texas state grand jury.
The artist and the organization of the event, held in Houston, are also the subject of several lawsuits filed by relatives of the victims.
The first day of Rolling Loud also features concerts by Aitch, Bktherula, Central Cee, Chow Lee, Destroy Lonely, Eem Triplin, Homixide Gang, Jeleel!, Joey Bada$$, Kaaris, Ken Carson, Latto, Lil Uzi Vert, Luh Tyler, Meechy Darko, Profjam, Rafaell Dior, Rondodasosa, Shaybo, Soulja Boy, and T-Rex.

The style of music and the program “means that, once again, many people from abroad will come”, acknowledged Tiago Castelo Branco to Lusa, executive director of MOT, one of the partner companies organizing the event, highlighting, however, the greater demand among the Portuguese public compared to last year.
“This year, we increased the rate of Portuguese people a lot, about 20 to 25% [of the total], but [the audience] is still mostly foreigners,” said the executive director of MOT, who preferred not to point out the number of spectators expected for the second edition on Portuguese soil of Rolling Loud, created in Miami, in the United States.
The first edition of the North American festival Rolling Loud in Portugal was supposed to take place in the summer of 2020, but was postponed to July 2021 and then rescheduled, for 2022, always due to the covid-19 pandemic.
In its first edition in Portugal, which gathered around 35 thousand spectators, the headliners included names like the rapper and producer J. Cole, A$AP Rocky and Future.
The festival only admits people over 18 years of age.
