A woman was arrested by the Polícia Judiciária on Monday, October 21, while attempting to smuggle drugs into the Paços de Ferreira prison.
The 47-year-old was apprehended after visiting her brother at the prison and handing him a small package.
“Upon recovering the said package, it was found to contain a suspicious substance,” stated the PJ in a press release. The police later confirmed that the package contained cannabis resin.
The woman is charged with aggravated drug trafficking.
With a criminal record for similar offenses, which had previously led to imprisonment, the suspect will now face a preliminary judicial interrogation to determine appropriate preventive measures.
