Trips to the toilet during the flight ‘trip up’ passenger with drugs upon arrival in Lisbon

The Public Security Police (PSP) apprehended a 35-year-old passenger at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport on March 27 on suspicion of drug trafficking after he raised suspicions during his flight.

In a statement released on Saturday, the police force explained that the intervention followed a report concerning passengers allegedly consuming drugs aboard the flight.

During their inquiry, the PSP discovered that the suspect was traveling with two other passengers, all of whom exhibited suspicious behavior and frequently visited the aircraft’s restroom, where they stayed for unusually long periods.

Based on evidence provided by the cabin chief, the three individuals were taken to the police station, where they were subjected to a thorough search. This search revealed that the suspect was in possession of cocaine (4.41 grams), marijuana (17.05 grams), and another substance believed to be cocaine (18.65 grams).

As a result, the suspect was arrested, formally charged, and required to provide identity and residence information.

Following a preliminary judicial hearing, the trial was postponed to a later date.
