“There continues to be approximately 80% participation in the strike among journalists at publications like Visão, Caras, Exame, Ativa, and Jornal de Letras. In general, at least half of the employees have joined the strike that began on Friday,” stated a communiqué released by SJ.
SJ also noted that the administration of TiN persists in “not providing answers,” and as the end of June approaches, it has “only processed a quarter of May’s salaries.”
According to SJ President Luís Simões, the magazine Visão not hitting the stands this week remains a possibility.
At the plenary meeting on May 30, when the decision to proceed with the strike was made, the employees had already voiced their outrage at having received only 80% of April’s salary, in three installments, with the remaining 20% still unpaid, along with May’s salary, meal allowance, and some vacation subsidies.
