Two men, aged 17 and 33, were arrested in flagrante delicto by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) last Wednesday, October 8, on “strong evidence of attempted murder,” which occurred on June 21 in Barreiro.
In a statement, authorities noted that the “police operation was carried out within the scope of two distinct investigations, with the process under the PJ overseeing the investigation into the attempted murder.”
“On the date of the incident, the suspects entered the victim’s home in Barreiro and shot him in the coccyx area,” the statement read.
The PJ also reported that “the victim, a 45-year-old man, was at one point at risk of life.”
“In the investigation overseen by the PJ, in addition to the arrest of the two men, one of whom is the perpetrator of the attempted murder that initiated this investigation, it was possible to seize two firearms and controlled substances,” the statement explained.
The suspect accused of attempted murder was “subjected to pre-trial detention.” Meanwhile, the other detainee was “bound by a term of identity and residence.”
The criminal proceeding is overseen by the DIAP of Barreiro.
