Two young men, aged 21 and 24, have been detained by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on suspicion of killing their 58-year-old father in an attempt to protect their mother from domestic violence in Lisbon.
In a statement provided to media outlets this Friday, the authorities disclosed that the crime occurred in the early hours of last Tuesday, April 29. The suspects themselves “reported the incident to the PJ”.
“The investigative efforts promptly undertaken confirmed the existence of a corpse in circumstances consistent with the initial report,” stated the PJ.
The crime took place in the family’s residence in Lisbon, involving a blunt and sharp object, in a context that might indicate domestic violence against the suspects’ mother.
The young men, suspected of committing homicide, will face an initial judicial interrogation to determine precautionary measures.
