Two individuals lost their lives after the vehicle they were in veered off the road on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred on the road connecting Cabeça Boa to Cabeça de Mouro in Torre de Moncorvo.
The Douro Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that following the crash, the “vehicle caught fire, which caused a rural fire, now contained.”
The same source mentioned that the two deceased were “found charred.”
The alert was issued at 4:06 PM.
On the scene are the Torre de Moncorvo Fire Department, an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Fôz Coa, two patrols of the National Republican Guard, an INEM helicopter, and municipal social action services (psychologists).
According to the Civil Protection website, 20 personnel are on-site, supported by seven vehicles.
Additionally, fighting the fire, there are 41 personnel supported by 13 units, as per the Civil Protection website.
