At 16:00, more than 200 firefighters were battling a fire with two active fronts in a forest area in the municipality of Pombal, which started in the early afternoon.
According to a source from the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, at 16:00, the last update given by those on the ground, the fire had two active fronts and there were no houses at risk.
The same source added that the fight against the fire, which started at 14:13 in Ruge Água, in the União de Freguesias de Santiago e São Simão de Litém and Albergaria dos Doze, “is being successful” and the flames “are subsiding”.
At 17:20, the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority indicated that 228 operatives, 67 vehicles and three aircraft were at the scene.
